UNCITRAL Code of Conduct for Arbitrators in
International Investment Dispute Resolution

In July 2023, the UNCITRAL Code of Conduct for Arbitrators in International Investment Dispute Resolution was adopted, the draft of which was prepared by UNCITRAL’s Working Group III on ISDS reform. In December 2023, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution recommending the use of the Code by arbitrators, former arbitrators, candidates, disputing parties, and administering institutions, and recommending governments involved in the negotiation of international investment instruments to make reference to the Code. Additional information about the Code is available here.

This joint UNCITRAL-RCAP and AAIL event will explore the key features of the Code of Conduct and discuss its implications for practitioners, arbitrators, and government officials. The event will be opened by Anna Joubin-Bret, the Secretary of UNCITRAL, who will offer an overview of the Code. It will be followed by the discussion of an international expert panel to be moderated by Teresa Cheng, Founder Member and Co-Chairman of Asian Academy of International Law (AAIL).
