Asian Academy of International Law (AAIL) and Society of International Economic Law co-hosted the 12th PEPA/SIEL Conference on 3 and 4 July in the Hong Kong SAR.

It started off with the Opening Remarks delivered by Ms Teresa Cheng GBM GBS SC JP, Founder Member and Co-Chairman of AAIL, followed by a Keynote Speech given by Professor Ignacio de la Rasilla, Han Depei Chair in International Law of the Wuhan University Institute of International Law.

It then proceeded to the Parallel Sessions. Postgraduates as well as early professionals and academics joining onsite and online had the opportunity to present and receive constructive comments and suggestions from peers as well as senior academics and professionals who acted as the chairs and discussants of their respective sessions. This Conference provided a unique platform for facilitating the exchange of ideas and fostering collaboration and mentoring opportunities for emerging academics and professionals.

A wide spectrum of topics in the area of international economic law were covered, ranging from investment law and dispute resolution to the reform and mechanism of the World Trade Organization, from law and technology to green economy and global sustainability, just to name a few.

The Conference concluded with Closing Remarks from the Co-Chairs, Mr Adrian Lai JP, Deputy Secretary General and Co-Convenor of the Advisory Board of AAIL, and Professor Suresh Nanwani, Professor in Practice of the Durham University.
