Dr Jane Willems specialises in international investment law and international arbitration. She is an Associate Professor of Law and the Associate Director of the LL.M. in International Arbitration & Dispute Settlement at the School of Law, Tsinghua University, Beijing (since 2015). She is admitted to practice to the Bar of the State of California and to the Bar of Paris. She holds a Ph.D. in Law.

Dr Willems has served as arbitrator or chair in numerous international commercial arbitrations involving ICC, HKIAC, KCAB, CIETAC, BAC, and UNCITRAL Rules and in investor-State arbitration (ICSID and PCA-UNCITRAL). She has also served as counsel for the Lao PDR in BIT based investment arbitration proceedings.

Dr Willems is a member of the Advisory Board of the Asian Academy of International Law. She is the delegate of the Academy at the UNCITRAL Working Group III (Investor-State Dispute Settlement Reform).
