Research Program on International Law
(Hong Kong SAR Session)

Organisers:

Asian Academy of International Law

Jointly organised by China and Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO), the China-AALCO Exchange and Research Program on International Law (CAERP) was established in 2015 with the aim of promoting capacity building in international law for AALCO members. Starting from the 3rd Training Session, the Academy has been entrusted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China to assist with the organisation of the Hong Kong SAR Session as an addition to the Beijing Session.

In the intensive one-week training in Hong Kong this year, the Academy handled the reception of 44 diplomatic and government officials coming from over 35 Asian and African jurisdictions. The delegates not only consolidated their knowledge of an array of topics in the field of international law through lectures delivered by top-notch legal experts and distinguished government officials, but also gained valuable first-hand experience through visits to Independent Commission Against Corruption, Department of Justice, Judiciary of the Hong Kong SAR and other different important dispute resolution institutions.

Unanimous and positive feedback of delegates affirmed the Hong Kong SAR Session of the 6th CAERP as highly beneficial, showcasing Hong Kong’s unique strengths as an international legal and dispute resolution service hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
