Asian Academy of International Law
Riding on the success of the last edition, Asian Academy of International Law was invited again to provide the 2025 Hong Kong Advanced Training Programme on International Law Practice (the Training). Over 30 practitioners coming from the Jing’an District (Shanghai), Futian District (Shenzhen), Hongkou District (Shanghai) and Suzhou (Jiangsu Province) gathered in Hong Kong for this 2-week intense Training. Aiming to enhance participants’ capacity to handle foreign-related legal matters, this Training is designed to strengthen their knowledge and skills in handling complex regulatory challenges, covering key areas such as International Commercial Arbitration, Project Finance, Intellectual Property, Family Office, etc.
In addition to informative and insightful lectures delivered by esteemed legal experts, visits to selected professional bodies were included in the Training – AALCO-HKRAC, CIETAC Hong Kong Arbitration Center, eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre, Hong Kong Bar Association, and The Law Society of Hong Kong. Moreover, attending a public hearing at the High Court of Hong Kong has provided contextual exposure and reference to the subsequent ‘Mock Case on Cross-Examination’, helping participants better understand the adversarial system that is widely used in common law jurisdictions and enhancing their skills in courtroom debate. Other modules of the Training included ‘Mock Mediation’ and roundtable discussions with representatives of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce as well as seasoned Greater Bay Area lawyers.
