Welcoming ICJ Judge to AAIL

AAIL is very honoured to have Judge Peter Tomka, Judge of the International Court of Justice, meeting with our two Co-Chairmen, Ms Teresa Cheng GBM GBS SC JP and Dr Anthony Neoh SC JP at our office, The Former French Mission Building (FMB).

After taking a brief tour of the FMB, a declared monument of the Hong Kong SAR, Judge Tomka, Ms Cheng and Dr Neoh discussed various topics of mutual interest, affirming the importance of fostering international legal cooperation.

The International Court of Justice (the Court) is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations (UN). Its seat is at the Peace Palace in the Hague, the Netherlands. The Court’s role is to settle, in accordance with international law, legal disputes submitted to it by States and to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by authorised UN organs and specialised agencies. Born in Slovakia, Judge Tomka has been the President (2012-2015), Vice-President (2009-2012) and member of the Court (since 2003).
