Managing Risks in Space Ventures through Contracts and Insurance

Co-organised by Orion Astropreneur Space Academy (OASA) and Asian Academy of International Law (AAIL), the SpaceBiz Dialogue focusing on ‘Managing Risks in Space Ventures through Contracts and Insurance’ was held on AAIL’s office premises – Former French Mission Building.

It started off with Opening and Welcome Remarks from Dr Anthony Neoh SC JP (Co-Chairman of AAIL) and Ms Clara Lo (Programme Director of SpaceBiz Dialogues of OASA).

As Keynote Speakers, Professor Benjamin Chang (Adjunct Associate Professor of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong) deliberated on ‘Insurance as a Comprehensive Risk Mitigation Tool for Space Ventures’, while Professor Dewey Yee (Professor of Practice (Aviation Management and Finance) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) focused on ‘The Rise of a New Generation of Risk Management for Space Assets’. Both speakers shared their solid expertise on risk mitigation and management in space ventures.

It then proceeded to panel discussion, moderated by Professor Gregg Li, (President of OASA). The panellists included Mr Adrian Lai JP (Deputy Secretary General and Co-Convenor of the Advisory Board of AAIL), Mr Patrick Peng (Director of Hong Kong Insurance Law Association Limited) and Mr David Chew Vee Kuan (Director of Satellite Solution at Kairos Risk Solutions).

This event addressed questions from both online and onsite participants through interactive and insightful discussions.
