The China-AALCO Exchange and Research Program on International Law (CAERP) was established in 2015 with the aim of promoting capacity building in international law for AALCO members. Starting from the 3rd Training Session, the Asian Academy of International Law (AAIL) has been entrusted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China to assist with the organisation of the Hong Kong SAR Session.
The 7th Training Session of CAERP (Hong Kong SAR Session) commenced on 30 June 2024, bringing together 31 diplomatic and government officials coming from 29 Asian and African jurisdictions and two international organisations.
The Training Session began with an Opening Speech by the Secretary-General of AALCO, H.E. Dr Kamalinne Pinitpuvadol, who outlined the work of AALCO and China’s role in it. During this intensive Training, delegates were able to gain deeper understanding of various topics relating to international law as well as Hong Kong’s legal and financial systems through lectures delivered by expert speakers, and visits to certain key professional and legal bodies such as the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Department of Justice, and Court of Final Appeal of the Hong Kong SAR. Delegates also attended AAIL’s annual signature event, 2024 Colloquium on International Law.
