Building upon last year’s success, again this year the intensive training course attracted top-notch experts and brought together a total of 40 legal professionals and government officials from 18 regions. Not only did it impart pragmatic knowledge and skills pertaining to investment law and mediation, but it also inspired fruitful discussion and exchanges between delegates from diverse backgrounds and world-renowned trainers from major international and academic bodies, such as ICSID, International Energy Charter, CEDR, Tsinghua University etc. Consisted of two distinctive parts on investment law and investor-State mediator training respectively, a wide variety of topics were examined closely, including different investment treaties, the umbrella clauses and State contracts, the context and framework of investment disputes and so on. Delegates further benefited from the opportunity to engage in guided small-group role plays to refine their mediating skills through practice, thus describing the training course in a highly positive light as overall ‘beyond my expectations’, ‘outstanding and sophisticated’.
